Brisbane Airport circa
1969-70. This view is looking south towards the Brisbane River and the
City of Brisbane. The white buildings at bottom left are part of the
Army's Damascus Barracks at Meeandah. Runway 22 extends from bottom
right towards the city for which reason the CBD was subject to building
height restrictions. This view shows all three Brisbane racecourses.
Closest to the airport is Doomben with Eagle Farm to the west and Albion
Park at the top of the image. Given that the airport has always been
known as Eagle Farm, it can be confusing that the racecourse closest
to the airport is actually Doomben with Eagle Farm Racecourse farther
away.
